My Dukan story...
Having gone through my teenager years that were ruined for me by being obese, I decided to do something about my size. I always looked upon my weight problems as a handicap until at the age of 18 I was weighting 17 stone 11 pounds. As everyone well knows, adolescence is a crucial time for a young man and for his development and with all those extra pounds; I just couldn't enjoy being a teenager and live how I wanted to.
After trying several more or less serious diets, I decided to try out what my mum was doing and she was following the advice of this doctor called Pierre Dukan and she had already achieved good results. She was eating a varied diet, with normal sized portions and without having to limit herself and yet she was still losing weight doing all this, it seemed ideal for someone like me who likes to eat a lot.
For a few months I managed on my own but I needed support and monitoring on a daily basis from someone outside the family because I often gave in and ate foods I wasn't meant to but I also didn't want to be lectured constantly.
One Monday morning I had made up my mind: I was going to put an end to fast food and snacking at odd times. With my mum's help, I subscribed to this famous on-line coaching site that I had heard so much about.
As soon as I started on the programme, I was pleasantly surprised about how up to date the tools were and the great variety of recipes and things to eat. With the amount of foods allowed in the Dukan method I was able to lose my last pounds and start on my consolidation phase without ever feeling hungry.
In addition to following the diet I took up sport again. I am just over six foot tall and today I weigh 12 stone 4 lbs. With the Dukan method I managed to get rid of my extra 5 ½ stone. I now do over 2 hours of sport every day, something that I could never have done 4 years ago and thanks to all this, I once again feel great and healthy and I feel ready to go out and enjoy all the pleasures of being young.
I realize that my work isn't quite over yet since your body never quite forgets its past but I've already started enjoying once more all the simple small things in life such as going round the shops and not having problems finding clothes to fit me and going to the swimming pool without feeling ashamed of my body.
