The cruise phase was an eye opener!

My name is Amanda and I've been skinny my whole life long (height 1.8 m, weight 70 - 72 kilograms) and after menopause started gaining weight 1 or 2 kilo's after a holiday...

My Dukan story...


I started with the 1st phase of the Dukan diet in June 2010, because I weighed 92 kilograms at age 60 and told my family that I do not recognize the person I see in the mirror and it did not feel like me anymore.
 
After 8 days, living on 2 boiled eggs for breakfast, chicken breast without the skin, microwave with half an onion for lunch, Fish microwave with half an onion for supper, I lost 4 kilograms. I drank lots of water, filter coffee and tee.
 
The cruise phase was an eye opener (I used to eat veggies with protein and no rice or potatoes, but did not consider that peas, beans, corn and lentils also are starches. after excluding those form my diet, assisted me in losing another 5 kilos.
 
The consolidation phase resulted in me losing another 5 kilograms and by the end of September 2010  I weighed 75 kilograms. Ideal weight within 3 months!!!
  
The stabilisation phase helped me lose 2 more kilograms (down to 73) and after Christmas (holidaying with my family at the coast where we enjoyed eating a feast every day for 3 weeks, I am back on 76 kilograms, which is still fine:-) I'm now back on phase 1 for a couple of days and shall soon have lost those 3 kilo's:-)
The best stimulation for me was to see the kilo’s disappearing right from the start and they kept on disappearing!

My favourite form of exercise: I exercise three times a week for an hour at a time, starting with stretching and flexing arms and legs, following up with exercises for stomach, hips and thighs, strengthening my back muscles, and ending with stretching

The best compliment someone has paid me: I bought my new size skinny jeans and when my son saw me, he exclaimed: Mom! When did you become so slim? What a thrill that was!

What keeps me going: to see that I can eat other food, cake or pasta now without gaining weight. The DUKAN diet has really altered my metabolism!

The advice I would give to other Dukanians: especially at the start of the diet:  Eat your boiled eggs or chicken without feeling intimidated by  others at your table (who try to persuade you to eat other food that they are enjoying)  to
