My name is Eve and I’m 24. Ever since I was a child I have always been definitely overweight. The past few years I have tried several different diets but never with any success as the pounds always quickly piled back on again each time with a few extra to boot...

My Dukan story...

At first I thought “yet another diet that is going to end in failure”. 

With all the disappointments of my previous diets added to the fact that I have Hashimoto’s thyroiditis (an underactive thyroid) my will-power had ended up being destroyed and I had come to the sorry conclusion that perhaps I was just made of “fat” and that nothing would ever change.

The advice I would give to other Dukanians: believe in yourself and what you are capable of achieving.


So I had to accept things and get on with my life. But after thinking long and hard, I decided to give the diet a go all the same, to enrol on the site and buy the various books and too bad if I was heading for disaster again. 
So I started my attack phase on 15 February 2010 with my scales at 15 stone 4 pounds and me only 5 foot 2 inches tall
, in other words I had my work cut out! 

After 5 days, I had already lost 5 pounds and I was very surprised. Could this be the right diet for me? Would this be the diet to sort out all my unsightly extra pounds that never wanted to part company with me? I have to say that for me this first phase was a decisive factor and a real turning point. 

I then went through the cruise phase feeling calm and assured
 and without the slightest hint of any lapse... the pounds slipped off before I had time to say “phew” and I was totally happy. Getting compliments from my friends and family just strengthened my resolve further. I have learnt a lot about just what I am capable of and I have discovered a determination inside me to deal with any test that I didn’t know was there. 

Of course, I’ve had my moments of doubt and anxiety, I even felt like packing it all in for a mouthful of cake or a peanut but I resisted the temptation, not without difficulty, but by convincing myself that a couple of minutes of pleasure were not worth my months of hard work. I enjoyed following the diet, and I tried out different recipes, I even continued going out to eat with my friends and then joy of joys I reached my True Weight (10 stone 10 pounds) two weeks before schedule on 13 August 2010. 

I found going into the consolidation phase a real ordeal. For several days I was obsessed with my weight and extremely anxious about it. And then, as the weeks went by, my weight stabilized and today I’m even six pounds better off than my ideal weight as I weigh a wonderful 10 stone 4 pounds i.e. I have lost 5 stone... ! 

The people I’ve met on the site (other dukanians and the moderators) really helped me a lot when times were difficult and I can never thank them enough for their dedication and good humour. I like my body now and I am rediscovering what fun shopping can be and the real pleasures in life. Before going on the diet my trousers were a “small” size 20 and now I can proudly wear a wonderful size 12! Going though this experience has made me realize that anything is possible if you have an iron will and keep your spirits up. As I see my stabilization stretching out way into the distance I often laugh at the thought that Pierre Dukan is the new man in my life!
