I feel young again!
My name is Monique, I'm 75 and the Dukan diet method has proved to me that it's never too late to take care of yourself...
My Dukan story...
For several years I had been feeling ungainly because of my stomach, my little round belly, my hips and my thighs that measured 20 inches. Okay, I am 5 foot 8, as my dear friends would tell me, since you're tall you're fine, 12 stone 8 lbs, that's what you'd expect to weigh!
My 40 years old nephew followed this slimming programme and lost 2 stone 12 lbs in 4 months, now he really loves how he looks, his mother "my sister" followed his example and she lost 2 stone in 3 months. The word of mouth worked, the snowball kept rolling so it's my turn now and that's how it all started.
With my youth long gone, the way others were looking at me and thinking about my future, (in our family we live to 95) I had to take myself in hand; get back my suppleness, the mobility in my knees and that nice feeling of being able to have a go at anything.
Another reason is how you look, not being frightened of showing yourself in public and imagining how envious people my age would feel. Take a look, for example at all those people who look lost in the supermarket as they only manage to get around by leaning on their trollies!
Come on ladies, if you realized how easy it is to lose a few pounds! And to feel that joie de vivre once again.
I got down to my true weight, 11 stone 3 lbs after 2 months of dieting; but it didn't stop there; I kept on losing weight, today I weigh 10 stone 10 lbs, my final weight in sum. What is surprising and very significant is the inches I've lost; 4 inches round my waist, the same round my hips, and my bust is two sizes smaller.
I continue being careful with my food and going on the scales every day but without feeling any pressure.
Our coach's advice is motivating and every day you get easy menus, which is really nice and I can tell you ladies that I've enjoying trying out different combinations of things I like.
The oat bran cake is dead easy, the tomatoes stuffed with meat as well as tuna and all the different seasonings using lemon and yoghurt.
I'm in good health and full of enthusiasm, no more cravings and it's wonderful to be able to tell yourself that in spite of having a small lapse or even a big one the next day you can wipe it out by having a day of pure proteins.
And another thing, I'm no longer frightened of stairs or walking; the way my friends and family look at me now makes me happy. I hope that writing about what I have done will give anyone my age confidence and hope that they too can start afresh.
With just a little effort every day, happiness is there for anyone who wants to have it. And what else have we got to do, if not look after our own well-being and by doing so our partner's health too? Take it from me, they will get a lot out of it too.
I don't know to thank the nutritionist Pierre Dukan enough for this simple and effective diet and the opportunity he has given me to get back to normal again.
