VID of the week
I started enjoying sport again!
My name is Nathalie and I'm 38. For over 15 years without doing anything in particular or noticing it, I had been gradually putting on more and more weight...
My Dukan story...
A few years ago, I lost 2 stone in 6 months, on my own, then very quickly afterwards I put even more back on.
I avoided weighing myself as I couldn't bear to see what my scales would display.
I no longer enjoyed going shopping and for good reason as nothing fitted me any more. In the shops now it's difficult finding a size 18 and when size 18 doesn't fit, you get anxious and ashamed into the bargain!
Even my mother asked me several times to "do something", but it was just impossible, I was afraid of having to deal with feeling frustrated, hungry, and I don't know what else.
I used all the excuses in the book: too much work, too tired, didn't feel up to it, holidays etc...... I ended up drinking too much wine, eating a completely unbalanced diet with very rich food at all times of the day...
Finally, after several fruitless resolutions that quickly evaporated, I went into a bookshop one day looking for a novel and was irresistibly drawn to a book that I bought there and then: "The Dukan Diet + 250 recipes" by Pierre Dukan, the famous nutritionist.
After reading it for a couple of hours I knew that I was going to give this diet a try. Carried away with the idea I made up my mind to weigh myself, face up to reality and look at the weight displayed on my scales - 13 stone 1 pound and I am just over 5 foot 2!
AFter having shopped for everything I needed and carefully following all the instructions in the book, I went on to the web site.
I didn't feel like signing up for the monitoring at the time and I decided to try it on my own using the book.
Shortly after, I had already lost 1 ½ stone! But then I came up against my first stagnation plateau and as I was worried I went back on the site and decided to subscribe so that I would keep on losing weight.
With the daily monitoring, sensible advice and recipe suggestions, my motivation managed to stay unshakeable for the whole of my coaching. I followed my instructions and they worked! I took up sport again, I can run for longer and longer and after 6 weeks I even managed the feat of running for 45 minutes without getting out of breath!
I am so happy! I feel like exerting myself once more. Every morning I do a quarter of an hour or so of abdominal-buttock muscle exercises and at least once a week I jog for half an hour minimum. Like brushing your teeth, it's become a habit...
It's amazing! My figure has really slimmed down and I've got the body back that I used to have. I was worried that my skin wouldn't cope with losing weight so quickly, but it is fine. What a great thing it is to "be active"!
Days earlier than scheduled, I had at last got down to my true weight, 9 stone 3 pounds! Now I can go shopping with my friends again and proudly try on size 10 / 12 clothes, I'm so pleased!
I've started the consolidation phase. I have to admit that even if I was looking forward to this phase I'm a bit worried about it, fortunately the motivational instructions I get every day are very detailed and they explain carefully how you do consolidation and most of all how you can learn to control yourself....
This is going to a long phase, as I did lose just under 4 stone in 21 weeks which equals 250 days of consolidation before I get to the stabilization phase. But since I know that this is the only way I'll stabilize my weight for good I can keep motivated.

- My favorite support Dukan food: diet soft fizzy drinks and Dukan toast with 0% fat cottage cheese and lumpfish roe
- My Dukan treat: poached egg wrapped in smoked salmon
- My favourite form of exercise: working my abdominals
- The nicest compliment I've been paid: "Well done! You look absolutely fantastic!"
- What keeps me going: the compliments and support from my family and friends
- The advice I'd give to others "Dukanians": Follow the instructions carefully, never let your motivation slip and enjoy being proud of achieving your goal
