If it worked for me, it will work for you!
After my last pregnancy and the extra 2 stone 9lbs, I used every possible excuse to delay taking myself in hand: I'm breastfeeding my baby so I can't go on a diet and then I am how I am...
My Dukan story
Underneath the outward pride was hidden my shame of being "what I was", I felt heavier and heavier, I was getting out of breath just going up the stairs at home, I was becoming a stay-at-home person, withdrawn, whereas I am actually quite outgoing...
A mum at my son's school told me about a diet that she was going to start: the Dukan diet. After finding some information about it on the internet, I went and bought the book "The Dukan Diet". To see the extent of the damage I asked my husband who is a photographer to take a photo of me, in my knickers, from behind and from my knees up to my neck.
This was a real eye opener for me! I had been turning a blind eye to all the pounds I had put on when pregnant which I had then "consolidated" whilst breastfeeding. This body that I was looking at as it really was, surely it wasn't mine! It was high time to take myself in hand and change!
I taped the famous photo inside my fridge so that as soon as I opened it I found myself face to face with the harsh reality.
"Things have got to change!"
Brimming with motivation, firmly believing in this method, I started my attack phase on January 3rd 2010. My weight at the outset was 12 stone 8lbs. Very soon the first couple of pounds then the next dropped off.
I have to say that it was easy enough for me to "cope with my raging hunger" by tucking into lots of pure proteins, so that I didn't give in.
I really enjoy my food and I love cooking. I discovered the web site and considered it a challenge to invent recipes and manage to combine slimming with gastronomy.
In the first week, I had already lost over 8 pounds, and you could see the difference! I felt like a new woman!
I lost 1 stone 8lbs in the first month. I kept on going, encouraged by this almost "miraculous" weight loss and also by Vera, a young woman I met on an internet forum, who supported me right throughout my diet, her words of encouragement helping me whenever I felt a bit down.
My husband couldn't get over it; I was melting away before his very eyes! And the more pounds I shed, the more confident I felt, I felt better and more alive! I followed the diet in military style, without any stagnating, I lost weight regularly and even my family had a feast with the delicious "Dukan" dishes that I concocted for them. And the greedy person and chocoholic that I once was now was discovering a taste for food cooked healthily without any fat.
Today I weigh 9 stone 2lbs, I no longer buy my clothes in the plus size department, I walk with my head held high and I can breathe again!

- My favorite support Dukan food: sliced, cooked chicken
- My Dukan treat: stir-fried beef and vegetables in a spicy sauce.
- My favourite form of exercise: going up the stairs.
- The nicest compliment I've been paid: Mum, you can stop dieting now, you haven't got any lumps left on your thighs (cellulite).
- What keeps me going: seeing myself in the mirror.
- The advice I'd give to others "Dukanians": If it has worked for me, then it'll work for you! Just stick at it!
