I guess when vegies are added it may reduce somewhat. I have not noticed it too much or at all but I am very conscious that my breath may not be as "pleasant" as usual - I am drinking the required amount of water and hot drinks too - and chewing sugar free gum. Hubby and I agree it's a small price to pay for the short-term if this diet gets the weight off! Which it is doing! Anyone else have any experiences? Thanks
img>http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/t/w8d9yUP/weight.png">

Well done Helene!! I find some foods affect that problem more than others ie I love prawns and when I have eaten those I notice the breath problem more. But as you say a small price to pay. I have lost 8 kilos - down 3 dress sizes and have another 8 kilos to go to get to my ideal weight. Every day is CHRISTMAS when I find something else that I can wear from my wardrobe - yippee !!! Thanks All high protein diets make you go into ketosis and that does cause bad breath and it will carry on until you get to stabilization as you are eating high protein throughout the other 3 phases. You should be eating at least double the amount of protein that you would consider a normal portion at each meal, the Dukan mantra is 'the more protein you eat the more weight you lose' Re fluid make sure that you are drinking at least 1.5 ltrs fluid up to a max of 2ltrs to include ALL you drink apart from milk which is counted as a dairy.

Thanks Dearie and Amber Yes, I guess as Dr D says, welcome the breath as a sign that the diet is working. We are drinking the required amount and have the mints handy. We have been on the Cruise for 25 days now, and seem to have slightly stagnated, with me having lost 8 lbs and hubby 13 lbs, which is great but have not moved now for over a week. Have upped our walking for 4 days to 1 hour, drunk green tea, any more suggestions for a "jolt"? Do you think upping the amount of protein eaten would help, it's just quite hard to get your head around , the more you eat, the more you lose. Cos in most diets they tell you you to eat less! But I know Dukan doesn't work like this. I only have 7 Lbs to lose and he has a stone. Many thanks.
img>http://tickers.TickerFactory.com/ezt/t/w8d9yUP/weight.png">

Hi Helene Forget ANY other diet you have been on Dukan is different it works!!!1 if you follow it 100%. Yes upping your protein will help, you need to eat loads and loads of protein at least double what you would call a 'normal' portion. The Dukan mantra is " the more you eat the more you loose" and it is true especially of protein. tinker32 Posted by tinker32 on 23/07/2012 10:29:14

Good luck to everyone else out there. On PV days in Cruise you need to eat at the ratio of 1/3 veg to 2/3 protein too

Hi Amber - Yes it is the PROTEIN that gives you the most weight loss - this is because the body has to use a lot of energy to break the protein down.. Don't give up you are SO close now . Posted by dearie on 24/07/2012 15:14:08

Hello - on this topic - the book has mentioned that the ketosis causes or may cause "bad breath" and I wondered that if this is so - how long can we expect this to last? Just on Attack or each day of the PP diet - or all the way through the diet until Consolidation?
