I started the Dukan diet on the 6th of Jan on a whim, thinking it will be like everything else - exciting at first, but something I will eventually lose interest in and become more unhappy as a result of the inevitable weight gain when giving up on the diet. HOWEVER In 3 weeks, I have lost 12 pounds!!! And i feel fantastic! Anyone experiencing similar results - please share! It's worth celebrating! Anyone who isn't having the same luck - maybe I can help with some tips! Best wishes Harriet Xx Posted by Hattie55 on 27/01/2012 01:10:59

Hi there thanks for the motivation. Due to a lot of constipation even though I exercise regularly (running, walking, pilates) I haven't lost as much as you guys. I am still highly motivated as I know this diet works, I lost 40 pounds last year. It's always motivating to hear the good, well working stories, they keep me going even more :-)
Have a good weekend

40lbs is great-and 12lbs in 3 weeks-thats quite similar to myself- I've lost 19lbs in nearly a month and feel great. great to read such positive happy comments and it just inspires you to keep at it. I think this is a geat place to vent frustrations, issues, have a whinge, ask questions and also to shout about the success of the diet raod that we're all travelling down. am just so glad that I bit the bullet and paid to join the online coaching and not just do it from the book- personally I need to be in touch or see others who are Dukaning as well so that i know it's not just me in the world who's embarking on what will be ( hopefully-No make that definitely! Keep going and Happy Dukaning to everyone keep in touch with happy chats Jo Posted by joanneire on 29/01/2012 10:13:25

hi Harriet the tem, the moderators and fellow Dukans will tell you, quite correctly that you aren't allowed alcohol on the Diet. so tempation is right in front of you and it'll take a lot of will power to resist the wine that will be calling out to you! having said that, some posts on the forum that say that some people fell off the Dukan wagon and had a 'lapse' due to special occasions etc , suggested that you just put it behind you and keep going-and depending on how much you overindulge, a day of PP and extra excercise would be the best way to compensate. so far i haven't been in a situation like you but am sure that something will arise between now and June ( my expected date for true weight) that tempts me-easter and Mothers Day are strong possibilities!! let us know how your evening goes

HI Ladies, WELL DONE on your fantastic weight losses to date, and in such a short space of time :) I joined the coaching Dukan on 23rd November and have since only lost - (can't see my ticker typing this!) - about 14lbs...... this was mostly in the first 4 weeks, then xmas happened and I lapsed for 3 days, and then I've kind of been up and down the same 1lb ever since, even while sticking to the diet rules totally............... so its great to see your efforts are really paying off for you!! I've been e-mailling the team, and they just keep saying 'stick with it, you are doign great' like most of the other helpful people on this forum - however - just keep going, is getting rather annoying when I am seeing NO progress (I keep a daily diary in the cruise thread, if you're interested) SO: please can you share a typical day of food with us please - see fi somethign jumps out at me at what/how YOU'RE eating compared to me!! Cheers, JB x Posted by juliebulie10 on 30/01/2012 12:30:12

Yes,absolutely do what TINKER32 says-didn't mean to confuse you and to take matters in to your own hands if you have a lapse-don't do a PP next day unless you're told to- am a novice at the Dukan but thrilled with results so far-got on the scales this morning and they read just under 13 stone-the first time they've read '12st something' in 3 years! am so delighted. 20 lbs in4 weeks. i must get a ticker for myself wheb I work out how to get one!

Yes it can be so so so annoying when people just tell you to keep going when you're not getting the results you want
Here's what i've been doing (also I'M O.3KG FROM REACHING MY TRUE WEIGHT WHICH IM SUPPOSED TO REACH ON 26TH FEB! SO HAPPY!)
Typical PP day: 2 scrambled eggs with 2 yolks (i don't have a problem with cholesterol and having two yolks hasn't affected me) and smoked salmon
turkey slices followed by 0% yoghurt
half a tofu steak and prawns stir fried with soy sauce
Typical PV day:
omelette with mushrooms and tomatoes
tuna salad with tomatoes, peppers, cucumber
(cottage cheese and carrots as a snack)
chicken and stir fried veg
Let me know what you think xx Posted by Hattie55 on 01/02/2012 19:15:19

Do the Team know you are sometimes drinking 3ltrs fluid a day?

Hi Harriet, and ladies, thanks for posting your 'typical' days food.... I have to say, mine seem to be quite similar really - you aren't eating anything 'magical'!! lol The water thing is a funny one - before dukan, I used to drink (quite happily) 4 litres of water /sugarfree squash a day. I thought this helps with, skin, hair, preventing constipation and if you don't drink ENOUGH water, then can encourage fluid retention (that's why body retains it as you don't give it enough) Once I was on live chat and I asked the team about this - they defo said 'no more than 2 L a day' I replied "but I will shrivel up and dry out!!" they just replied 'no you wont' I then also said: "its is 12:15 now, and I have already had 2L, do I not drink anything else now for the rest of the day?? but I can't remember getting a reply to that before the chat ended....... So, as I (try to) do as I'm told, I have now changed my 'drink water app' to only 2L to make sure I only drink 2L, or there abouts....... BUT, I'm convinced that my weight loss AND bowel movements would improve with MORE water.......... if constipated = more water to keep bolus soft?..... hey-ho - I guess if Dukan says 2L then 2L it is!! (for now) ;) thanks again HArriet x x x Posted by juliebulie10 on 03/02/2012 00:02:47

It is well worth looking at the following website www.mayoclinic.com/water . This gives a medical perspective . Personally, I, like Harriet and JB, drink more than 1.5 litres a day ... but hold it Amber and Tinker ,there are other factors that need to be considered when assessing an individuals hydration needs.,namely how much your body expels not only through urine but also through sweat and especially with increased physical activity or illness (fever). I AGREE THAT I WOULDN"T RECOMMEND THAT ANYONE GO AGAINST THE DUKAN RULE but a candid answer from me is that by careful experimentation I have worked out what works best for MY body, and I am happy to share my individual experience. Daily fluid intake , excepting vegetables: 7 a.m. After weigh in !! 200ml green tea 8 a.m. My treat ! 200ml skimmed milk latte 10 a.m. 4/5ml walk 330ml water 12 noon 300ml mint / licorice and peppermint tea 2pm gym 500ml water 4/5 p.m. 200ml earl grey tea 7p.m 330ml diet coke 9p.m. 300ml gren tea Total 2,660ml =2litres, 660ml ,( n.b. - if exercise fluid intake is removed : 1,830ml = 1litre ,830ml ) I am steadily losing weight and having,in the past, experienced dizziness after exercising following insufficient fluid intake I am very careful. Interestingly, since a few days after Attack and into Cruise I have had no constipation issues whatsoever, and I do not take any supplements or rhubarb...so this works for me. I am "religious" about drinking green tea first thing in the morning, last thing at night along with a protein nibble. Fifi xx

Just like to add my experience to the fluid intake discussion. like others here I had previously been advised that drinking lots of water would flush out toxins etc and reduce water retention. I live in a tropical country so always carry a water bottle around with me, and used to drink 2 L of water per day plus 1.5L of other drinks. I continued with this through Attack and Cruise and gained my true weight in the expected time. Once I went into consolidation, I was concerned about cellulite and heaviness in my legs, so I started to analyze my liquid intake. I decided to reduce it to 2.5L per day I.e. about 1.5L water and 3 cups herbal/green tea and 1 can coke zero. Without changing anything else in my diet or exercise routine,I lost a further kilo in about a week. I was quite amazed by this!! Posted by dumbmum on 04/02/2012 02:29:38
